How do Baha'is meditate?

Join us monthly to practice meditation as a basis for spiritual progress. All faith backgrounds are welcome.

How do Baha'is meditate? The simple answer is, "Baha'is meditate in many different ways."

There are no set forms of meditation prescribed in the Baha'i teachings. However, Baha'is are urged to pray and meditate daily and are taught that meditation should be followed by service to humanity. But the way to meditate is left entirely to the individual. In this monthly gathering, passages from the Baha'i Writings will be shared as we learn from each other about various forms of meditation and then practice meditation together in the majestic Auditorium of the Baha'i House of Worship.

We begin in the Welcome Center (next to the Temple) at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month for introductions and to discuss meditation from a Baha’i perspective. The group then goes up to the Temple Auditorium for up to 45 minutes of quiet contemplation, followed by sharing of experiences and inspiration, and ending at 8:30 p.m.

People of all faith backgrounds are encouraged to attend. Writings from other religions are welcomed. The Welcome Center address is 112 Linden Ave, Wilmette, IL.

The Temple is open every day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for personal prayer and reflection. (These are the Winter hours, from Nov. through March. In the Summer, the Temple is open until 8pm.)
