Experience one of Indiana’s most dazzling wildlife events as hundreds of hummingbirds pass through Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary on their fall migration.
The Hummingbird Migration Celebration is your chance to see Ruby-throated Hummingbirds up close, learn about their fascinating journey, and enjoy a day surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. Whether you stay all day or just for a while, there’s something for everyone from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET on August 9.
Event Highlights
- Live hummingbird banding demonstrations (9-10:30 a.m. and 2:30-4 p.m.)
- 50-minute guided nature walks, departing every half hour
- Programs on gardening with native plants and hummingbirds
- Live birds of prey presentations by Salamonie Raptor Center, sponsored by Wild Birds Unlimited Carmel (11 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-2 p.m.)
- Fishing demos with Go Fishin with Clint (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)
- Family-friendly activities, including Beekeeping 101, candle making, and bluebird nest box building
- Native plant sale, sponsored by Native Plants Unlimited
- Artisan vendor market with handmade goods and nature-inspired art
- Live music by The Hammer and the Hatchet
- Food trucks and local drinks from Bus Stop Bistro, Big Lemon Shake Ups, and Shark Bite Popcorn Company
- Silent auction and raffle basket benefiting Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary

Event Ticketing
Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $15 at the door. Youth 17 and under attend free. (Eventbrite processing fees not included.)
If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, forwarding may stop after 30 days, which can block event correspondence. Use a regular email to make sure you receive all event info. We do not add you to our mailing list unless you opt in during registration.

- Full refunds are provided for Indiana Audubon events, field trips, and public programs canceled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
- Events, field trips, and public programs under $10 per person (excluding processing fees) are non-refundable, as proceeds support our work.
- Refunds for events, field trips, and programs over $10 per person (excluding processing fees) require 30-day advance notice, minus a 25% administrative fee.
- Refunds for Indiana Master Naturalist programs at Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary require 30-day advance notice, minus a 25% administrative fee.
- Separate cancellation policies apply to the Indiana Dunes Birding Festival and field trips, events, and public programs co-hosted by other organizations.
