Overview:

Our Colorado Concealed Handgun Course fully complies with the new Colorado law taking effect on July 1, 2025. This course is designed for individuals who have never fired a gun before or have no prior training, so don’t worry—it’s not a hard course to pass!

The day will start in the classroom at Holly St, where we'll cover essential topics like firearm safety, Colorado gun laws, basic pistol fundamentals (grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control), mental preparedness, and responsible carry. Students will also learn about proper storage, use-of-force laws, and firearm maintenance. Afterward, we'll head to an indoor shooting range in either Aurora or Denver—locations at:

Classroom Portion Schedule:

  • 9:30 AM: Admin/Registration
  • 9:45 AM: Classroom Portion
  • 12:30 PM: Lunch (half-hour break)
  • 1:00 PM: Classroom Portion continues, Test
  • 2:30 PM: Drive to Range
  • 3:00 PM: Live Fire Portion
  • 4:30 PM: Qualification
  • 5:30 PM: Qualification Paperwork
  • 6:00 PM: End of Class

Course Details:

  • Breaks: We will take a 10-minute break every hour.
  • Lunch: Students should bring their lunch. There will be a half-hour lunch break.

The course includes:

State-Mandated Classroom Instruction covering:

  • Firearm Safety
  • Colorado Gun Laws
  • Basic Pistol Fundamentals (grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control)
  • Mental Preparedness
  • Responsible Carry
  • Use-of-Force Laws
  • Proper Firearm Storage
  • Firearm Maintenance

Written Exam – Must be passed with a minimum score of 80%
Live Fire Qualification – Mandatory shooting of 50 rounds, with a qualification requirement of 25 rounds on an IDPA or FBI target.
Mandatory 8 hours of training required by law (Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-12-203)

Qualification Standards:

  • 7 feet: 10 rounds
  • 10 feet: 10 rounds
  • 15 feet: 5 rounds
  • Scoring Requirement: Must hit within the silhouette area, with a minimum passing score of 70% (at least 18 hits out of 25 rounds).

This course is structured to help you succeed—whether you're a beginner or have little experience with firearms. Upon successful completion, you’ll receive the certification needed to apply for your Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit, as required by Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-12-203.

Frequently asked questions

What happens If I need to reschedule?

We allow up to one reschedule. We do not offer refunds with in 7 days of the event or after the event occurs.

Can I rent a handgun?

Yes, we have rentals for $15. We have a Glock 9mm & Ruger .22. We need to sell you the ammo that is shot out of our firearms for safety reasons. 100 Rounds of 9mm will cost you about $30 and 100 rounds of .22 will cost you about $15.

Do I need to pay for my own ammo?

Students are responsible for supplying their own ammo.

Do I need to pay a range fee?

Yes. The range fee is about $20.

What do I need to bring to class?

100 rounds of ammunition, An unloaded semi-auto or revolver handgun (chambered in .22, .32, .380, 9mm, .40, .45, 10mm, .38 SPL, or any other pistol caliber), Minimum of one magazine, Gun in a gun case, $20 range fee, Lunch, Good hygiene, positive attitude, Note-taking materials.

Do I need eye and ear protection?

Yes, you can bring your own or use the range supplied eye and ear protection.

What if I don’t pass the written test or shooting qualification?

Don’t worry—this course is designed to be accessible to everyone. You will receive training and guidance to ensure you have the skills needed. If you don’t pass the written test or qualification after THREE attempts, we can discuss options for retesting or further training.

Do I need to be in good physical condition for this course?

This course is designed for individuals of all fitness levels. You will be standing for extended periods and performing basic shooting drills, but there are no intense physical requirements.

Will I get a certificate after completing the course?

Yes, upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate that can be used to apply for your Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit.
