2025 Minnesota Scapula Course

Over the past decade, operative treatment of significantly displaced scapula fractures has gained increased awareness within the orthopaedic community. Despite growing awareness, education and training is necessary to provide a high standard of care for patients suffering from this pathology.

This course will equip surgeons with the knowledge and surgical skills to operate on most scapula fractures they will encounter in practice. This highly interactive course includes surgical skill training on human specimens, an emphasis on diagnostic assessment and decision-making for the care of injured patients, case-based discussions, as well as hands-on interactions with uniquely experienced and passionate faculty trained in the treatment of scapula fractures. The intended audience for this course is orthopaedic surgeons from all over the globe.

The 2025 Minnesota Scapula Course will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn from leading national and regional experts from multiple disciplines and will include networking opportunities. This conference will include general lectures, cadaver lab, case studies, panels, and an operative procedure video presentation to augment the educational experience of addressing current topics dealing with scapula fracture repair.

Upon completion of this educational activity, learners will be better able to:

1) Describe history and current literature of scapula fractures.

2) Identify pathology and physiology of the scapula and surrounding anatomic structures.

3) Describe operative indications of scapula fractures.

4) Discuss scapula fracture treatment options to educate patients and staff.

5) Explain and apply techniques for fixation.
